Kris Boyd has suggested in The Scottish Sun that he does not think that Odsonne Edouard wants to be at Celtic.
The former Rangers striker, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that Edouard is not playing well for Celtic at the moment.
Boyd has added that the 22-year-old does well when he goes on international duty for the France Under-21s, but for the Hoops, the young striker has been underwhelming.
According to WhoScored, the young striker has scored five goals and provided one assist in seven Scottish Premiership matches and has scored one goal in three Europa League games for Neil Lennon’s side.
Football.London reported in October of interest in Edouard from Arsenal, who wanted to sign him earlier this year and are still monitoring him.
Boyd wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Odsonne Edouard looks, for all the world, as if he would rather be anywhere else but Scotland. I can understand why. If I believed I’d been told I could go after a certain period of time and then felt — rightly or wrongly — that the goalposts had been moved, I would be a little frustrated.
“For me, Celtic have done nothing wrong, but it seems some players are not truly content with their lot. This term Edouard has been a shadow of the striker he was for the previous two campaigns.
“Yet, it is funny how he then plays like a world-beater again every time he joins up with France Under-21s on international duty. He gave a glimpse of the French Eddy of old with that wonderful opener in Prague on Thursday — but Lenny needs more from him.”
Stepping up
Edouard is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership and is a key figure at Celtic.
The Hoops are not doing well in the league at the moment and have also been knocked out of the Europa League.
The French striker needs to do better and step up his game, and one suspects that he knows it as well.
Celtic fans should stay positive as all strikers go through bad spells.
