The Celtic transfer news is beginning to hot up.
Ange Postecoglou needs a stellar summer on the transfer front in order to boost the Bhoys’ hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
And, of course, ensuring that Celtic are as prepared as possible to defend their Scottish Premiership title against Rangers next season.
According to Sky Sports, Postecoglou is set to sign a goalkeeper in the form of Benjamin Siegrist, who is out of contract at Dundee United.
The report claims that the Hoops are in ‘advanced talks’ about signing the stopper, praised by Micky Mellon last week.
And former Celtic player Mark Wilson has told Sky Sports that Siegrist won’t be coming in to solely cover Joe Hart, claiming that the ‘fantastic’ 30-year-old is well capable of actually challenging the veteran English goalkeeper next term.
He told Sky Sports: “Benjamin Siegrist was fantastic at Dundee Utd and you only have to look at where they finish in the table in fourth place. You need a solid defence but you also need someone behind you and he’s been fantastic for a number of years.
“Siegrist is someone who can really push Joe Hart. It may take a bit of time to bed in, but I think by next season he could be pushing him all the way for the No 1 spot.”

As far as Celtic transfer news goes, well the Parkhead faithful will be hoping for bigger and better deals than Siegrist over the coming months.
Because as talented as Siegrist is, he isn’t going to start ahead of Hart – at least not immediately – and Postecoglou is going to need ready-made hitters capable of having an instant impact in the first XI.
Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda have both converted their initial loan transfers to permanent ones, which is good news.
But there’s no rest for the wicked and Celtic must sign additional stars who can affect change from the starting lineup.
