Paul Merson suggested on Sky Sports News (1:19pm, January 2, 2021) that Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette would be a good signing for West Ham United.
The former Arsenal star, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that if the Gunners decide to sell Lacazette in the January transfer window, then there would be a lot of clubs lining up for the Frenchman.
The Englishman believes that the 29-year-old France international striker would suit West Ham.
Merson said on Sky Sports News (1:19pm, January 2, 2021): “There would be a lot queuing up for him, a lot queuing up for him, I mean, a lot. West Ham, he would suit West Ham. He brings players in, and they have got legs around at West Ham.”
Unlikely transfer to West Ham United
Lacazette is an important player for Arsenal, and it is hard to see manager Mikel Arteta sell the Frenchman in the middle of the season.
The striker is in good form at the moment and is scoring goals, and the Gunners need him to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
According to WhoScored, the 29-year-old has scored seven goals in 10 league starts and has found the back of the net once in three Europa League games.
It is also hard to see the Frenchman leave Arsenal and join West Ham, given that the Hammers are not in Europe this season and are unlikely to play in the Champions League or the Europa League anytime soon.
