Kris Boyd has revealed that he believes Ryan Kent thinks he may have been above a move to Leeds United during the summer transfer window.
The Premier League new boys were heavily linked with a move for the in-form Rangers winger.
According to The Scottish Sun in August, Leeds were readying a £14 million bid for the former Liverpool attacker, for whom they had already been rejected by Rangers.
The Gers signed the 23-year-old for £7 million last summer and five goals already this season indicates that the English attacker could be set for his best-ever campaign at Ibrox.
And Sky Sports pundit Boyd has suggested to The Scottish Sun that the player might feel that long term, he can do better than a move to Elland Road.
He said: “It’s easy to have your head turned when linked with a move but Kent seems to be the opposite as if to say, ‘Leeds United is not the level I want to go to. Massive club but I want to go higher than that’. His performances have been unbelievable.”
Is Kent above a move to Leeds? Well, not really.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have taken the Premier League by storm, winning seven points from a possible 12 on their return to the top flight.
In fact, the Whites even fought fire with fire against Manchester City prior to the international break, earning a 1-1 draw against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Kent is clearly a good player, but he’s completely unproven in the Premier League and if he rejected a switch to West Yorkshire in the belief that a bigger club will come knocking eventually then, frankly, it’s a ludicrous gamble.
