Micah Richards has suggested that Divock Origi can not be trusted to play 20 games this season for Liverpool on Sky Sports.

When discussing who he thought would win the Premier League, Richards suggested that Manchester City are still favourites ahead of Liverpool because of their squad depth.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have only brought in one new player this summer in the form of Kostas Tsimikas.

And Richards fears that Liverpool simply can’t rely on Origi to play too many games for them.

“Origi has scored some very important goals, but would you trust him for 20 games at season? That’s why Manchester City are favourites, because of their squad,” Richards said.

Thankfully for Liverpool their attacking line-up remained free from injury for the bulk of last term.

Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah look set to monopolise Liverpool’s forward spots again this time around.

Takumi Minamino may also have nudged ahead of Origi in the pecking order for places at Liverpool now.

The Reds begin their title defence with a game against Leeds on September 12th.
