Clinton Morrison raved about reported Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United target and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud on Sky Sports News (12:51pm, December 5, 2020).

The former Crystal Palace forward, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has shared what he has heard about Giroud in Chelsea training.

Morrison added that if the former Arsenal striker does not get enough playing time in the coming weeks, then he will have to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window to be in form for France at the European Championship in the summer of 2021.

Calciomercato reported in November that Tottenham and West Ham are among the clubs interested in signing the 34-year-old when the transfer window opens in January, as covered by HITC Sport here.

Morrison said about Giroud on Sky Sports News (12:51pm, December 5, 2020): “He is 34 years of age. I heard all he does is he comes into training, he gets on with his job, he does not ever moan that he is not playing. When he gets called upon, he delivers.”

The Sky Sports pundit added: “I think he is a brilliant centre-forward, and if he doesn’t start playing regular, then come January, he will have to move because he has got big things with France in the summer.”

Encouraging for Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United?

Morrison’s aforementioned comments about Giroud are quite encouraging. They show that the 34-year-old France international is not a disruptive influence in the dressing room and does not kick up a fuss because he is not playing on a regular basis.

The Frenchman has been among the goals lately. Giroud scored all four goals against Sevilla in the Champions League last week and found the back of the net against Leeds United in the Premier League at the weekend.

Leaving Chelsea for Tottenham Hotspur or West Ham United?

Tammy Abraham seems to be the main striker at Chelsea at the moment, while Timo Werner is a key figure in manager Frank Lampard’s attack.

However, it is hard to see Chelsea sanction a move for Giroud next month, especially to London rivals Tottenham or West Ham.

With the Blues aiming to win the Premier League title and also make an impact in the Champions League this season, Lampard may not want to weaken his squad by letting go of a proven goalscorer.
