You feel Mauricio Pochettino’s situation at Chelsea is going to be assessed game-by-game after more dropped points at the weekend.

Chelsea recorded a 2-2 draw against Brentford, who had their entire backline injured and are hovering above the Premier League’s relegation zone.

It means that the London club are sitting in the bottom half of the table. All of which doesn’t bode well for the man in their dugout.

When it was suggested that Chelsea should look to bring in Jose Mourinho, it was quickly shut down by Stephen Warnock, as he told The Football Show on Sky Sports.

The former left-back admitted that the trophy-winning coach would find it ‘incredible’ to return to a club that put him on the global stage.

Perhaps it’s more ‘nostalgic’ more than anything else because the 61-year-old has had some troublesome jobs of late.

Over in Rome, the outspoken coach was adored by the fans, but that didn’t stop the club from sacking him in January.

Now that he is a free agent and Mauricio Pochettino is still being questioned, then there are some who would like their legendary coach to come back.

Jose Mourino to return to Chelsea?

“For me, no, no,” responded Warnock. “I think you have got to move on from it. To go back for a third spell would be incredible for him, from a nostalgic point of view.

“But I just don’t think it’s the right fit. I just think you have to say that period in the history of Chelsea has gone and you have to look forward.

“Would his style of management work on a squad like that? It might do. It might be something that galvanises the squad, but I still think you have to give Pochettino the opportunity.”

Chelsea in the FA Cup

You feel this is where all the pressure on Chelsea lies, if they don’t win this, then it might be curtains for their manager.

Not only would winning the FA Cup signal a trophy for Poch, something he hasn’t done or didn’t do whilst he was at Tottenham.

But it would also be a pathway to Europe because, as of this moment, it looks like Chelsea might end up in the bottom half again, never mind in the top seven positions.
