Erik ten Hag has had to take a lot of verbal hits during his time as the Manchester United manager.
From his lack of identity to the club’s pretty abject recruitment. He has been responsible for quite a lot of it.
But one thing that can’t be argued is his ability to bring through the young stars and develop them, such as Alejandro Garnacho.
Jay Bothroyd thinks Manchester United have a player in the ‘Cristiano Ronaldo mould’ and he has been the ‘shining star’ for the team this season, as he told The Football Show on Sky Sports.
That overhead kick against Everton should already be awarded the goal of the season because nothing is going to top that.
But that is just a glimpse of the talent Alejandro Garnacho has at his feet, as he was responsible for winning two penalties for his side during their win against Everton on Saturday.
And now the rising Argentine star is receiving high praise for his performances in what is a struggling Manchester United team.
Alejandro Garnacho and Cristiano Ronaldo
“Garnacho has been the shining star,” said Bothroyd. “Whether he is playing on the left or the right. He is always putting in solid performances.
“To be honest with you, when you see him on the right, he is starting to look of that Ronaldo mould.
“I am not sure he can ever reach that level, but he can definitely be a top, top player. He is so young.”

Learning from Cristiano Ronaldo
Garnacho was coming through when Ronaldo was still at Old Trafford and fans even saw the youngster mimic the legendary figure’s iconic celebration.
Just spending time on the training pitch with a player of Ronaldo’s stature would have done him the world of good.
And it allows him to use that to progress as high as possible in his career.
There is a lot of doom, gloom and dark clouds at Old Trafford, but you would say it’s the youngsters that are providing the light.
