Clinton Morrison said on Sky Sports News (2:22pm, February 27, 2021) that Liverpool midfielder Thiago will be at his best next season.

The former Crystal Palace forward, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, said that Thiago has been a disappointment this season.

However, Morrison believes that the central midfielder will be at his best next season when he has all the best players fit and available to play with him.

Morrison said about Thiago on Sky Sports News (2:22pm, February 27, 2021): “I think you need to judge him when the whole team is fit and firing, to be fair. He is that kind of player.”

The Sky Sports pundit added: “I think we will see the best of Thiago when everyone is fully fit. He has been a disappointment this season without a shadow of a doubt, but I think we should judge Thiago next season. I am not going to totally write off Thiago, no chance.”

Morrison added: “I am going to stick to my guns and say Thiago will be a star.”

Disappointing season

Thiago joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020 and was expected to be a massive success at Anfield.

The 29-year-old played a big role in Bayern winning the Champions League last season.

However, a long-term injury against Everton in October saw the former Barcelona star stay on the sidelines for several weeks.

Thiago’s performances since his return have not been great, although Liverpool fans will hope that the Spain international gets better.

With Fabinho and Jordan Henderson playing in defence – before both got injured – Thiago has not had the kind of players around him in midfield that he would have expected to play alongside him when he joined Liverpool.

According to WhoScored, Thiago has made 10 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League and has played once in the Champions League for Liverpool so far this season.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool star John Barnes was pleased to see Roberto Firmino’s deflected strike go in against Sheffield United in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
