Clinton Morrison has claimed that Marcelo Bielsa possibly replacing the under-fire Jesse Marsch as Leeds United manager would be ‘the best story’.

It was only back in February that Marsch replaced the 67-year-old in the dugout after a string of bad results, before Leeds survived on the last day of the Premier League season.

But those final-day party scenes at Brentford are now just a distant memory because the Yorkshire club are back in the Premier League’s relegation zone.

Leeds were beaten 3-2 by Fulham last time out and, with the 2022 World Cup around the corner, they are at serious risk of heading into the break with no wins since August.

If things continue down this current path, then Marsch’s future at the club will be under serious threat, with some fans already turning, including the Elland Road faithful booing the American after their defeat to Fulham.

There will be some who would be happy for Marsch to leave today, whilst others would wait until the break to make a call, either way, if there is a parting of ways, then the former Crystal Palace striker Morrison thinks it would be some story if Bielsa returned, as he told Sky Sports News (25/10/22 at 7:15 pm).

“Dare I say, Marcelo Bielsa is available,” said Jeff Stelling

Morrison responded: “Well, you never know he could always go back. The Leeds fans love Bielsa. That would be the best story.”

MARSCH OR BIELSA?

When Bielsa was sacked last season, there was no doubt that the team was all over the shop, conceding a stupid amount of goals and heading back to the Championship.

It was the right call to part ways with the Argentine, but was he hard done by given what he was working with and the number of injuries he had to deal with?

Leeds didn’t have the depth they have now, plus key members of the team, such as Kalvin Phillips, were injured and a number of the young players were used.

The issue for the Yorkshire side wasn’t those teams around them, they could compete with them, but those near the top, who would feast on their issues.

On the other hand, Marsch has just gone through a period of playing against the likes of Brentford, Aston Villa, Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Fulham, to name a few, without winning, with the toughest of games coming up, so that says a lot.
