Paul Merson said on Sky Sports News (2:02pm, October 31, 2020) that he finds Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang “frustrating”.

The former Arsenal star, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, said that he wants Aubameyang to play more down the middle instead out wide.

Merson said about Aubameyang on Sky Sports News (2:02pm, October 31, 2020): “I find Aubameyang, I find him frustrating. He plays out on the wing. If it ain’t going well, I think he needs to be inside. He needs to be down the middle and involved in the game. I think he can drift out of the game.”

Not in form

Aubameyang is one of the best strikers in the world, but the Arsenal star has not been in great form so far this season.

According to WhoScored, the 31-year-old has scored one goal and provided one assist in six Premier League matches and has scored one goal in 29 minutes in the Europa League for the Gunners so far this season.

During the 2019-20 campaign, the Gabon international scored 22 goals in the Premier League, and found the net 22 times in the league in 2018-19 as well, according to WhoScored.

Getting back to his best

Aubameyang has started the season slowly, but it is only a matter of time before the striker gets back to his best.

The 31-year-old is better playing centrally, but he is also brilliant cutting in from the wing.

The Gabon international is a very mobile striker who links up well with his attacking players and contributes to the team besides scoring goals.
