Joleon Lescott has raved about Aston Villa attacking midfielder Ross Barkley on Sky Sports.
The former Villa central defender believes that Barkley, signed on loan from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer of 2020, is hard to stop when he is playing with confidence.
Lescott told Sky Sports about Barkley: “If you get him playing with confidence, he’s hard to stop – a lot of positive traits. A great signing for Aston Villa and he’s proved that during his time there.”
Making an impact at Aston Villa
Barkley has been superb for Villa and has made an immediate impact on the team.
The attacking midfielder is scoring goals, creating chances, and driving the team forward.
According to WhoScored, the 26-year-old attacking midfielder has scored two goals in four Premier League games for the Villans so far this season.
Barkley did well when he was at Everton, but the England international could not establish himself as an indispensable figure at Chelsea.
The England international is developing a very good understanding and partnership with Jack Grealish in attacking midfield, and he could prove to be a big player for the Villans in the coming weeks and months.
Villa narrowly avoided the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of last season and will hope to challenge for the Premier League top 10 this campaign.
