Joleon Lescott has raved about Arsenal central defender Gabriel on Sky Sports.
The former Everton and Manchester City central defender has been impressed by the performances of the 22-year-old Brazilian for the Gunners so far this season.
Lescott believes that Gabriel is playing like a veteran in the Premier League and is a versatile player.
The former England international told Sky Sports about Gabriel: “He’s new to the Premier League and he looks like he’s played here for a number of years.
“He’s aggressive, which I like, and hasn’t made many mistakes. He’s played in different positions, on the left and in the middle of a three – so he has a good understanding of different roles.”
Making Arsenal better
Gabriel joined Arsenal from French club Lille in the summer of 2020 and has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.
The 22-year-old looks very comfortable on the ball, is strong at the back, and is able to move the ball forward.
The Brazilian youngster has scored one goal in six Premier League games and has played once in the Europa League for the Gunners so far this season, according to WhoScored.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is proving to be a very good ‘coach’ who can develop players, and working under the Spaniard, Gabriel will get better and better.
Arsenal are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table and also make an impact in the Europa League, and Gabriel will be a key player in that quest.
