Graeme Souness has said on Sky Sports Football (1:11pm, May 2, 2021) that reported Liverpool and Manchester City target Erling Haaland is perfect for the Premier League.
The Liverpool legend made the comments about Haaland while discussing the impact that he could make if he joined Manchester United or City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.
Both Liverpool and City have been linked with the 20-year-old Norway international striker, who cost Dortmund £17.1 million in transfer fees when they signed him from RB Salzburg in January 2020, according to BBC Sport.
Sky Sports reported in March interest in the youngster from Liverpool and added that the striker himself would be open to a move to Anfield, as covered by HITC Sport.
The Daily Mail credited City with interest in the 20-year-old striker in March as well.
Souness said on Sky Sports Football (1:11pm, May 2, 2021): “I think, Haaland, looking at him, he is tailor-made for our game.”
Liverpool or Manchester City transfer?
Dortmund are a big club in Germany, but money talks. If Liverpool or City make a huge offer, then the Bundesliga side are likely to accept it.
Haaland would be tempted to move to Liverpool or City and play in the Premier League, the most-watched domestic league in the world.
City are likely to be the most appealing destination. The Citizens are set to win the Premier League title this season and could clinch the Champions League as well.
Moreover, with Sergio Aguero leaving at the end of the season, a space will open up in the City squad.
Liverpool are a massive club, but they may not be in the Champions League next season and also have a strong front-three.
According to WhoScored, Haaland has scored 25 goals and provided five assists in the Premier League and scored 10 goals and gave two assists in the Champions League for Dortmund this season.
Haaland is a complete striker and would be absolutely brilliant in the Premier League.
The Dortmund star is tall, strong, powerful, quick, prolific and clinical. Haaland is also very clever inside the opposition box.
