Clinton Morrison thinks Eric Dier must have an ‘unbelievable’ agent after he managed to secure a move from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich.

Given that the 29-year-old wasn’t even getting a sniff at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou, not even playing ahead of fullbacks, then you would have thought that his next move would have been a step-down.

But somehow, Eric Dier has managed to secure a January move to Germany’s biggest club, Bayern Munich and a step up the footballing ladder.

And within an instant, he is now going to be fighting for trophies, including trying to claw off Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and pushing for the European Cup.

Clinton Morrison feels, for the player himself, it’s a ‘great move’ and Harry Kane might have played some part in it all, as he told Sky Sports News (13/01/24 at 1:10 pm).

The duo, not only played together for a number of years at Tottenham, but they are also close friends.

So, from that sense, the England captain can now settle in far better in his new surroundings.

Eric Dier at Bayern Munich

“It’s a great move,” said Morrison. “Harry Kane did probably have a say in it and told him what a brilliant club Bayern Munich are.

“He hasn’t been playing football. Even when they have had so many injuries to key defenders. Ange has been playing fullbacks, so I think the time was right to leave Tottenham.

“He is a good defender. You know what you are going to get with Eric Dier. Bayern Munich dominate football matches, so he isn’t going to have a lot of defending to do. It’s a great move for him.

“His agent must be unbelievable, so he must give his agent a high five!”

Eric Dier’s England’s chances

It remains to be seen how many minutes Thomas Tuchel will hand Dier because this is his chance to return to the England set-up.

Gareth Southgate has rightly snubbed him in recent times because of his lack of form and game time.

But you would imagine if he secures those regular minutes for Bayern, then he will be back in the England squad in next to no time.

The fact that he is playing in such a pressured environment can’t be ignored, so this move could prove to be a masterstroke from all involved because it might just suit everybody.
