Charlie Nicholas has praised Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce as well as winger Allan Saint-Maximin on Skysports.com.

The former Arsenal forward, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that Bruce does not get the credit that he deserves for his achievement at Newcastle this season.

Nicholas has also said that he enjoys watching Newcastle winger Saint-Maximin in action.

Nicholas wrote on Skysports.com: “Steve Bruce does not get the credit he deserves. They played well against Tottenham and Allan Saint-Maximin makes you smile when he gets the ball. He has been playing slightly further forward, but Jonjo Shelvey has also been performing.

“They were never at risk of relegation really, yet he or Newcastle have never got the applause they should have done. They were a relegation-threatened team. He brought in who he could find, and these two deserve a lot of compliments.”

Stats

Saint-Maximin has made 21 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

The winger also made three starts and one substitute appearance in the FA Cup for the Magpies this campaign, according to WhoScored.

Brilliant player for Newcastle United

Saint-Maximin has been arguably the best player for Newcastle this season, with the winger adding a touch of class to the Magpies’ attack.

The winger has pace, scores goals and creates chances for his teammates, terrorises the opposition defences, and is a joy to watch.

As for Bruce, what he has done at Newcastle this season is brilliant, with the Magpies set to finish in mid-table.
