Nigel de Jong has told Sky Sports News (10/08/21 at 11:45 am) that Dele Alli’s training videos on his social media accounts prove that he is putting the effort in ahead of the new season with Tottenham.
The former Dutch international thinks that Alli will ‘more than likely’ show up for Tottenham under Nuno Espirito Santo this season.
For a number of years now, Alli’s form and reputation in Spurs colours have been declining.
If it goes wrong under Nuno for the attack-minded midfielder, then he can probably wave goodbye to his Spurs career.
But de Jong backed Alli to showcase his worth under his new boss and praised him for how he has been training, as per what he’s seen on his social accounts.
“It is going to be a big season for Dele Alli,” said de Jong. “We have all seen and we all know the Dele Alli of the last two years, where he is showing a lot of inconsistencies and spats with his former manager as well. Not being happy in that Tottenham team.
“With a new manager in, it gives him a chance as well. I have seen him, I have been following him on social media, so I see the workrate he has put in.
“His training regime as well, in order to be fit and ready for the season. One thing is for sure, he has got the quality and the mentality to become a top player.
“But you can’t forget that he’s still a young player. Everyone can have a blip in your career – he will more than likely to show up this season knowing what has happened during the past two seasons.”

Alli always had a knack to score a goal, produce a special moment or change a game in an instant.
From scoring that brace against Chelsea many years ago to his wonder goal at Selhurst Park.
Alli has it all in his locker but, for whatever reason, it has gone downhill for far too long.
The England international’s lack of form started well before Jose Mourinho arrived, so he is one of a number of Spurs players under huge pressure ahead of the new season.
