James Collins stated that Tottenham defender Joe Rodon was ‘incredible’ for Wales on Tuesday night, as he told Sky Sports during their live coverage of the World Cup qualifiers.
The 23-year-old helped his home country record a valuable 1-0 win against the Czech Republic in their World Cup qualifier.
Tottenham’s summer signing was a standout performer on the night, as he topped it off by making a last-ditch point-blank-range block in stoppage time to prevent Wales from dropping points.
Ex-Wales defender, Collins, was left jumping with joy in the Sky studios at Rodon’s match-saving block, as he waxed-lyrical about what he saw from the Spurs man last night.
“It’s incredible defending,” said Collins. “Like you said like me as an old, rugged centre-back, I love to see stuff like this.
“All the centre-forwards over the years getting the plaudits, but this is as good as a goal.
“He reads the danger really well and you can see by his reaction what it means to him. To make a block like that in the dying minutes of an international game, and a very important international game, is incredible.
“I thought his overall performance, the Czech Republic did have quite a few chances, but he defended superbly and that just tops it off.”

Tottenham fans will be hoping that Jose Mourinho is watching carefully because Rodon needs to start on a regular basis now.
It’s pretty clear that Tottenham’s biggest problem is their defence, and whilst certain senior stars have struggled, Rodon has shown serious promise.
He started Tottenham’s win over Aston Villa last time out and he needs to keep his place in the side, regardless of performances, up until the final ball is kicked this term.
