Jamie Carragher has hit back at a Southampton fan on Twitter for his comments about Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah regarding the penalty he won against West Ham United on Saturday evening.

Salah won a controversial penalty in the closing stages of the first half when he went down following a challenge from West Ham left-back Arthur Masuaku.

Former Liverpool star Carragher was on co-commentary duty for the Premier League game at Anfield for Sky Sports.

The Sky Sports pundit has hit back at a Southampton fan for suggesting that he is bias towards Liverpool and has made his stance on the penalty decision clear on Twitter.

Controversial decision

It was a controversial decision to award Salah the penalty, and one suspects that West Ham fans will not be happy.

The Hammers defended well for most of the match and lost only after Diogo Jota scored in the 85th minute.

Perhaps if the penalty was not given, the Hammers could have held on to their 1-0 lead and won all three points from the match, but on the balance of play, Liverpool were the better team over the course of the 90 minutes.
