Jermaine Beckford told Sky Sports during their live coverage of Leeds’ win against Southampton on Tuesday night that Diego Llorente has been ‘missed’ this season.
The Elland Road favourite shared that Llorente brings ‘defensive stability’ to Leeds which ‘the club haven’t had all season’.
It would have been a joy to behold for Leeds fans yesterday because, on top of their 3-0 win against Saints, Llorente was able to complete 90 minutes for the first time since his summer move.
Beckford shared his thoughts on Llorente and how the Leeds 27-year-old is someone the club have needed.
“When you have a player like Diego Llorente,” said Beckford. “Six caps for Spain. He’s a Spanish international.
“He brings a defensive stability to the club that the club haven’t had all season.
“He was one of the players brought in the summer to improve the club. To strengthen an area of the pitch that you felt needed strengthing. That’s a part of why he has been missed.”

For Llorente, it’s now about adding to those three appearances he has made for Leeds.
Given that he has just come back from injury, it will be interesting to see if Marcelo Bielsa throws him straight in once again at the weekend.
Leeds face off against out-of-form Aston Villa, who could be without their star performer and expert ball-carrier, Jack Grealish.
