Stephen Kelly has praised Son Heung-min and how the Tottenham Hotspur forward has a ‘pretty flawless’ technique to his game.

The former Spurs defender added that Son is a ‘sensational’ player, as he showcased during his side’s 3-2 win over Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Despite a few questionable defensive performances from Spurs, going forward, they were as ruthless as ever, led by their dynamic, fearless and record-breaking duo – Son and Harry Kane.

It was Kane’s ball that, as per, found an on-rushing Son to equalise against Frankfurt, with the England captain then putting his team ahead from the penalty spot.

That’s when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg took over proceedings from Kane and played a delightful cross for Son to volley home with his so-called weaker left foot.

It was a brilliant display of attacking football from Spurs within a half of football and a lesson on how to remain composed in front of goal, with the versatile forward praised by Stephen Kelly, as he told Sky Sports News.

“It was an absolutely sensational goal,” said Kelly. “Hojbjerg on the right-hand side, he chips the ball in and Son first-time with a left-foot volley. He smashes it into the net. His technique is flawless. He is such a sensational player.

“There’s no question about his talent as a player. It’s always going to be there. You look at Salah, another player. It’s about confidence and doing the right things.

“You look at Son, his athleticism, but also his mindset. He looks like the type of player that continually still wants to get in there no matter how often he misses them. The technique he displays is pretty flawless.”

SON SEARCHING FOR CONSISTENCY

Whilst there was no stopping Son last season as he raced to secure his first Golden Boot of his career, it has been a different story this time around.

Aside from the performance against Frankfurt and his hat-trick against Leicester City, the 30-year-old has struggled to find that ruthless nature in front of goal.

It’s not cost Antonio Conte’s side because of the quality and competition they have in the forward areas.

But following his brace in the Champions League, he will be hoping, ahead of Everton’s visit to north London on Saturday, he can now go on a goalscoring run.
