Jermaine Beckford has told Sky Sports that Leeds United boss Andrea Radrizzani needs to arrange a meeting with Raphinha to give him a new contract.
Raphinha has burst on to the scene since his summer arrival at Leeds, and quickly become a key player for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
The Brazilian is already being linked with a move away from Elland Road, with a number of clubs said to be looking at him ahead of the summer transfer window.
And Beckford has urged his former side to end all speculation over the playmaker by handing him a new deal already.
“He’s such an exciting player. Every time he picks the ball up he’s so positive. He’s quick, sharp and tricky,” Beckford said.
“He’s at a massive football club here and is playing week in, week out. That’s the absolute key. What I would do now is tie him down on a new contract.
“If I was Bielsa or Radrizzani I would say ‘what a great start to the campaign, come in the office – bring your agent by the way.’”

Raphinha has indeed made a blistering start to life at Leeds, so pinning him down to a long-term deal could be difficult.
However, the 24-year-old does seem to be really enjoying his football at the moment.
Raphinha is thriving with the freedom he is being allowed by Bielsa, and now ranks among the most creative players in the league.
Raphinha increased his standing further in midweek, as he scored for Leeds in their 3-0 win over Southampton.
