Gabby Agbonlahor told the Spurs Eye View that Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has been treated like he has ‘no quality’.
Gareth Southgate opted to leave the Liverpool academy product out of his England squad for the forthcoming internationals.
Whilst Alexander-Arnold hasn’t been at his best this season. The Premier League winner still should have enough credit in his bank for his performances in recent years.
And whilst ex-Aston Villa striker and Sky pundit, Agbonlahor thinks TAA is ‘outstanding’, he does worry that Southgate won’t pick him for the Euros in the summer.
“On form, would I have picked him in the squad? Yes” said Agbonlahor. “Would I have started him? No.
“If England are going to play five at the back. It’s going to be Walker right side of the back three and Reece James as a wing-back, at the moment.
“But he should still be in the squad. Trippier hasn’t played in how many games for his suspension? I am thinking Trent before Trippier.
“We cannot treat Trent like he’s got no quality. He’s outstanding. He has to go to the Euros as maybe the third-choice – but no matter what Trent does in the next eight games. I don’t see him going.”

If wouldn’t be a surprise if some Liverpool supporters would be pleased to see TAA not go to the Euros because it means that he doesn’t have to endure another gruelling schedule.
Plus if Southgate doesn’t start him then Liverpool fans will make the further point that he’s better off not getting selected at all.
It does seem as though Chelsea’s Reece James has pushed ahead of the Liverpool-born player, with the experienced Trippier recently returning from suspension and also getting the nod.
