Gabby Agbonlahor told the Spurs Eye View that Jose Mourinho would sell Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, Joe Rodon and Toby Alderweireld ‘tomorrow’ if he could.
The ex-Premier League striker and Sky Sports pundit was defending Mourinho for how he sets up at Tottenham.
A lot has been made of Mourinho’s so-called ‘defensive’ style and how he should seemingly be getting more out of this Tottenham team.
Agbonlahor was critical of Tottenham’s defence and even claimed summer signing, Rodon, would be sold by the three-time Premier League winner.
“Look at the defence,” said Agbonlahor. “Do you blame him for playing defensively when he has centre-halves like he has got? Do you blame him?
“He hasn’t got Terry and Ferdinand. He’s got defenders who cannot defend, so why is he going to play 4-3-3 attacking against Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea? He cannot.
“Dier’s not good enough as a centre-half. Not quick enough. Sanchez has got a mistake in him even though he has the pace.
“Rodon looks alright but he’ll get found out against the big clubs. Alderweireld looks like he’s okay but he lacks the pace, so if Mourinho could sell all four of them defenders tomorrow. He would. And then bring in two rock-solid defenders.”

The defence has been Tottenham’s weak point for too long and questions have to be asked upstairs.
Rodon was the only one brought in during the summer and he’s a youngster from Swansea who has his best years in front of him.
A more proven star was needed but if Daniel Levy and Co. aren’t going to back the manager, in that respect, then the desired results are there for all to see.
