Clinton Morrison has claimed that Jose Mourinho wants to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham, as he told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (01/01/22 at 2:10 pm).

The former Premier League striker added that the Tottenham midfielder has ‘so much ability’ in his locker.

Ndombele was an unused substitute for Spurs during their 1-0 stoppage-time win against Watford.

The Tottenham club-record signing has started one Premier League game since Antonio Conte’s arrival and he hasn’t been used during the last two matches.

Sky pundit and Spurs fan, Morrison, thinks the Frenchman will leave during the winter window and how he could possibly head to AS Roma and join up with Mourinho.

“Ndombele seems to be the one (possibly leaving), there has been a lot of talk,” said Morrison.

“He is one they paid big money for, but they may have to cut their losses for him because there have been two or three managers that have tried to get the best out of him and it hasn’t really worked.

“He is a talented individual and he has so much ability. But it’s what he does when you don’t have the ball and that’s what he has struggled with.

“He was their record signing. There was talk of Jose Mourinho wanting him. Maybe he needs to go out on loan. But that’s not going to get money in.”

It required some tough love at the start, but eventually, Ndombele did play on a regular basis when Mourinho was in charge in north London.

But given that both Mourinho and Conte are highly demanding in what they want from their players without the ball, then it would be a surprise if Mourinho is one of the managers that wants to sign him during the January transfer window.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if the expert ball-carrier does leave this month because many are looking towards the possible outgoings at Hotspur Way rather than the incomings.
