Clinton Morrison has claimed that Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip were ‘playing with their slippers on’ during Liverpool’s 5-1 win against Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The former Crystal Palace striker stated that it was ‘comfortable’ for Liverpool in Portugal, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports (28/09/21 at 9:40 pm)
Whilst Ivan Toney and Brentford caused Liverpool all sorts of problems at the weekend, it was a different story in Europe for the six-time champions.
The usual front three – Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah – were all on the scoresheet, which comes in a timely fashion because they host Manchester City at the weekend.
Nonetheless, Morrison praised Liverpool and how easy it was for them last night.
“Liverpool can just score at will, if they want,” said Morrison. “It’s comfortable for Liverpool.
“Van Dijk and Matip are playing with their slippers on, at the back.”

The Reds, who are back to their free-scoring best this season, are seemingly going under the radar during these early stages.
Given the transfer activity at their so-called Premier League title rivals, and their lack of action in the summer, then that has taken the spotlight away from Merseyside.
But, pound-for-pound, when Klopp is able to play his strongest XI then it can match anyone in the land.
And that might just prove to be the case against Man City, because like Pep Guardiola’s side winning at Chelsea last time out, they sent out a message and now Liverpool can do the same.
