Stephen Warnock told the Football Show on Sky Sports (30/08/21 at 12:10 pm) that if Dan James moves from Manchester United to Leeds then he will have a ‘better education’.

Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford has possibly opened the door for Leeds to bring in James, who they could have and nearly signed when they were in the Championship.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that James is set to sign for Leeds on transfer deadline day in a deal worth around £24 million.

Marcelo Bielsa is a manager that likes to work with a small group of players, but James will provide that much-needed depth for the highly demanding coach.

Warnock thinks James ‘suits’ Leeds and he will now strengthen their bench.

“I think the Leeds move probably would suit him,” said Warnock. “It gives Leeds options off the bench.

“You then have Harrison and Raphinha playing off either side. But what it gives him is a better education. I think it gives him that learning curve under Bielsa. Understanding the different side of the game.

“I think it will help with his end product. He’s a good player for Manchester United. But I think two or three years down the line, he will be a better player for Manchester United.

“I think the move to Leeds would definitely suit his game.”

Leeds’ gung-ho ways and 100 miles per hour system will suit James’ game down to the bone.

It will make them more lethal on the counter and it means someone like Patrick Bamford will get more service.

The speed in which James runs with the ball makes him one of the quickest in the Premier League, so Leeds fans will be entertained by their growing attacking set-up.
