Tim Sherwood has suggested that Eddie Howe wouldn’t want Arsenal striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, at Newcastle after being an ‘absolute disgrace’, as he told Sky Sports News (11/12/21 at 2:10 pm).
The Sky pundit shared that he felt Aubameyang was ‘perfect’ for Newcastle, but he isn’t so sure now.
Aubameyang was left out of Arsenal’s matchday squad that faced Southampton on Saturday after a ‘disciplinary breach’, according to his manager Mikel Arteta.
This is the second time Arteta has had to take this course of action with, not just one of his most experienced players, but his captain.
It’s not a good look on the player and the dressing, especially if Arteta still allows him to wear the armband, although others will debate that.
With the January transfer window looming, Sherwood admitted that he felt that Aubameyang would have worked at St James’ Park alongside Callum Wilson but he’s questioning that now.
“A couple of weeks ago, I was thinking ‘he is perfect for Newcastle Aubameyang’,” said Sherwood.
“Playing alongside Wilson. Pace off the shoulder. Would Eddie want to take him?
“Does he want a troublemaker there? I am not saying he’s a troublemaker because we don’t know what the discipline is. But he has certainly broken some rules.
“What you can’t suffer is players throwing their toys out of the pram and thinking ‘I am sitting on the bench at Everton, then I am entitled to do whatever I want and not curb with the rest of the players’. I think it’s an absolute disgrace.”

Given the big contract Aubameyang is on, it’s going to be pretty difficult to offload him, even towards the big pockets of Newcastle.
It would be a surprise if the Gabon star swapped being Arsenal captain to battling relegation in the North East.
Plus, given the nature of games Newcastle will be involved in during the second half of the campaign, is Aubameyang the type of character you want at the club? Probably not.
He’s not a roll your sleeves up type of player, nor is he going to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, so on that front, it’s best the Magpies stayed away.
