Dion Dublin has claimed on Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (24/10/20 at 2:40 pm) that Chris Wood will tell his Burnley teammates to cross the ball to Tottenham players instead on Monday night.

The former Premier League hitman thinks the reason why Wood would say that is because of Tottenham’s defensive weaknesses.

Last week, Spurs produced a very un-Jose Mourinho like performance when they let slip a three-goal lead, including two goals coming from crosses.

Whilst Sean Dyche’s side haven’t started the season in a strong fashion, they do like to attack the penalty area with a bucket load of crosses and Dublin thinks the Burnley players will be looking forward to it.

On Wood licking his lips coming up against Tottenham added with the fact that he has scored in the past three seasons against them: “Ahh, yes,” Dublin told Sky Sports.

“Chris Wood will be saying, ‘right, don’t put it on my head, put it on his head, put it on the defenders head’.

“The defender has to keep his eye on the ball. I can come across him, win the ball, take everything and we can go from there.”

From Tottenham’s perspective, they cannot overreact to what happened because teams aren’t going to make comebacks such as that every week.

But what Mourinho’s side can do most weeks is blow opposition teams away because both Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have been ripping a number of them to shreds recently.

It’s just a case of that defence trying to find a balance and some consistency to make themselves tough to beat as a team during this hectic and goal-fest start to the 2020/21 Premier League season.
