Kevin Campbell told the Highbury Squad Podcast that Granit Xhaka isn’t good enough if Arsenal want to win the Premier League title.

The Sky Sports pundit also stated that ‘Arteta knows’ that Xhaka’s ‘not going to be consistent’ enough in the long-run even though he keeps picking up.

Before Arteta joined Arsenal, Xhaka’s career was heading one way and that was towards the North London exit doors.

But fast forward to today and the £35 million man (BBC Sport) is a regular in the middle of the park for Arsenal.

However, club legend Campbell claimed that Arsenal not qualifying for the Champions League in Xhaka’s five years at the club ‘tells you everything’.

“If we are going to challenge (for the title) is Granit Xhaka in the team?” asked Campbell. “No, he’s not. He’s part of the squad.

“Do you reckon Arteta doesn’t know that? Arteta knows that there are games were Granit Xhaka can actually play because he’s going to have to rotate the squad.

“But you know and I know that Granit Xhaka is not going to be consistent to get you to a title. He’s been at the club for five years and we haven’t qualified for the Champions League once. That tells us everything.”

If Arsenal’s season ends in the manner it started then this team will go down in history for the wrong reasons.

Whilst certain performances have picked up in recent weeks, it’s still not enough for an Arsenal team heading towards no trophies and a finish outside of the top seven.

But these upcoming weeks will once again test Arsenal’s resolve, with Europa League knockout matches and that North London derby around the corner.
