Clinton Morrison has stated that Gabriel Martinelli signing a new contract at Arsenal was ‘never in doubt’ and it’s ‘brilliant’ for the player.

The former Crystal Palace striker added that Bukayo Saka and William Saliba could be the ones next in line to pen their futures with the Premier League leaders.

Plucked from the lower leagues of Brazil by Edu Gaspar, it has been some rise for Martinelli during the past few years.

That fresh-faced teenager that first arrived when Unai Emery was in charge is now thriving under the stewardship of Mikel Arteta.

Well, after signing a new deal until 2027 with the Gunners, Clinton Morrison praised Martinelli and who could be next, as he told Sky Sports News (04/02/23 at 12:15 pm).

“Never in doubt (that Martinelli was going to sign a new deal),” said Morrison. “He has been outstanding.

“I think him signing a new contract, It’s brilliant for Martinelli. They are now trying to negotiate with Saka and Saliba.

“But he has been outstanding. He has stepped up to the mark. I do think he has missed Gabriel Jesus since he has been out injured. He is only going to improve. He is still at a young age.

“Top, top player. Credit must go to Mikel Arteta and Edu.”

SAKA AND SALIBA’S CONTRACTS

The past few transfer windows have been pretty healthy for Arsenal, and added to this new deal for Martinelli, then things are going well for the club.

Added to that, their defeat to Everton over the weekend doesn’t matter too much because Manchester City themselves were beaten by Tottenham.

But who is next in signing a new deal? Saka, just like Martinelli, is a given. Saliba should follow suit, as he is probably now the most important defender for the Gunners.
