Tim Sherwood has told the Weekend Preview that Hector Bellerin is a ‘mistake waiting to happen’ for Arsenal.

The Sky Sports pundit also shared how Arsenal have ‘so many poor players’, but he did highlight two players in defence for praise – Gabriel and Kieran Tierney.

It has been a struggle for Arsenal in the Premier League this season and it has all been summed up by Bellerin continually making foul throws.

Sherwood shared his thoughts on Arsenal ahead of their clash against Burnley on Sunday and how he worries for Mikel Arteta.

“I’m not sure they are the best at the back,” said Sherwood. “We have been saying that for about five years now.

“Yes, they brought in Gabriel and David Luiz. I think Gabriel is an improvement. Tierney’s a good player as well. But they have so many poor players. Bellerin is a mistake waiting to happen.

“I really worry for Mikel and Arsenal going forward – winning the FA Cup has given them a false sense of security.”

The ability to take on any wide player in the Premier League, Bellerin, 25, had the speed to keep many opposition players awake at night during his early days at Arsenal.

But that rawness the former Barcelona man had in his game has evaporated into thin air and he’s the one seemingly having sleepless nights worrying about opposition players.

Debates can be made far and wide about Bellerin’s defensive qualities without the ball, but the inability to take a throw-in is no-one’s fault but the individual in hand.
