Despite speculation about Newcastle United, Anthony Gordon has reported for Everton training this morning.
The Toffees attacker had been absent from Finch Farm in recent days.
And that, in combination with the fact Newcastle are seemingly getting closer to signing him, is an ominous indication for Everton’s chances of keeping their youth product on Merseyside.
Sky Sports’ Vinny O’Connor was on site outside the training ground this morning, reporting about how Sean Dyche is set to become the Blues’ manager.
And O’Connor was surprised to see the reported Newcastle target drive past him en route to the entrance.

He said live on Sky Sports News: “That’s Anthony Gordon just arriving, so a bit of a surprise there. It seems Anthony Gordon has just made his way into the training ground. So, an indication maybe that relations are actually soaring a little bit. It’s taken us a little bit by surprise.”
Despite O’Connor’s optimism, it might be too early to begin saying that Gordon is staying at Everton.
That’s because Fabrizio Romano reported this morning on Twitter, as covered by HITC Sport, that the player has already agreed personal terms with Newcastle.
The wheels seem to be in motion regarding a transfer to St James’s Park and with Dyche or without him, it would appear that it’s difficult to keep him at this stage.
