Speculation is mounting once again that Newcastle United are interested in signing Liverpool hitman Divock Origi.
The Liverpool attacker was linked with a January move to Newcastle back in November.
But on Thursday, The Telegraph reported that the mega-rich Magpies remain keen on the out-of-favour Belgium international.
And according to a journalist from Sky Sports, the St James’s Park outfit could have a genuine opportunity.
Transfer has legs
That’s because Dharmesh Sheth reported that although three Serie A clubs want to sign the 26-year-old Liverpool marksman, the player himself has his heart set on staying in the Premier League.
And with Newcastle being one of the few English outfits linked with signing the former Lille forward, you imagine that such a development is potentially massive for the Tynesiders’ aspirations here.
Monster
Origi is very much out of the picture at Liverpool after starting four outings across all competitions this season – and none in the Premier League.
However, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is an admirer nonetheless, describing the player as a ‘monster‘ after his goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers in December.
Twenty-one goals in 103 Premier League outings suggests that the Liverpool coach was being a tad too flattering to Origi’s prowess up front.
However, with Newcastle desperately needing added firepower, and the Anfield club not needing this player, then Sheth’s update genuinely has positive implications for the St James’s Park side.
