Well, Leeds United supporters were seemingly furious with Rodrigo today.

The former Valencia attacker has been excellent for the Elland Road outfit as of late, netting four goals in seven Premier League outings.

There’s no doubt that he’s been something of a hero for Leeds under Jesse Marsch this season.

Today, however, the Whites’ forward strayed into villain territory.

Rodrigo effectively cost Leeds the opening goal as Arsenal secured a 1-0 half-time lead over Marsch’s troops.

It was a suicidal cross-field ball from the Spaniard which ultimately led to the visitors scoring.

And according to Sky journalist Sam Blitz on site at Elland Road, the home supporters were absolutely livid with him.

He said on Sky Sports: “Leeds fans roar in anger against their own player again. Marsch then sends Bamford to warm up.”

As Blitz pointed out, Patrick Bamford was informed to warm up by the American manager and Rodrigo was indeed sacrified for the second half.

You have to say that Bamford certainly looked a lot more lively – and less problematic – than his Spanish teammate, but overall the West Yorkshire outfit were lacking something of a cutting edge up front.

Even when Bamford had a chance from the penalty spot, he drilled wide of the post to sum up the hosts’ afternoon.

In fact, United thought they had a second penalty right at the death, only for it to be overturned following a VAR check and pitchside consultation at the monitor.

And that summed up the Whites’ Sunday more than anything.
