Jaydee Dyer told Transfer Talk on Sky Sports (20/01/21 at 1:10 pm) that the Arsenal players have hailed Sokratis’ ‘professionalism’ despite the club terminating his contract on Wednesday.
Arsenal’s official website shared that they had parted ways with the 32-year-old, who wasn’t part of their 25-man squad and had six-months left to run on his contract.
Just under three years ago, Arsenal paid Dortmund £18 million for Sokratis’ services [Guardian], but it just hasn’t worked out for the Greek international.
But Dyer shared that despite hardly playing in recent times, Sokratis has been lauded by the Arsenal players for the influence he has had on the dressing room and the club’s youngsters.
“One thing I will give you insight is speaking to a few of the players they do talk about Sokratis’ professionalism,” said Dyer.
“They do talk about the impact he does have in the changing room, especially with a lot of young defenders that have come into that changing room recently.
“He has been very hands-on in terms of helping their development. Maybe not so much being able to help them off the field. But being able to help them off the field.”

Slowly but surely, Arsenal are clearing out the deadwood at the club and Mikel Arteta is trying to shape his own team.
Whilst Arteta has some of his fingerprints on this team, he still has a long way to go and he needs a number of transfer windows to make serious changes.
But the performances have to be consistent on the pitch and the Arsenal supporters need to see progression if Arteta wants to see the forthcoming transfer windows.
