David Raya continues to be picked ahead of Aaron Ramsdale but there appears to be no feud between the Arsenal goalkeepers.
Aaron Ramsdale has again been left out for David Raya but the Arsenal stopper is certainly supporting his teammate.
Arsenal are taking on Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby this afternoon with bragging rights on offer.
The Gunners again went into the game with Raya in goal rather than Ramsdale as Mikel Arteta continues his goalkeeping changes.
Raya came in against Everton last weekend and started against PSV Eindhoven in midweek, keeping his place for the derby too.
David Raya pulls off unbelievable save
Raya certainly showed why Arteta is favouring him at the moment with a quite miraculous save in the first half.
Dejan Kulusevski broke forward down the right flank before picking out Son Heung-min on the overlap.
Son cut the ball back for Brennan Johnson, who appeared to have scored before Raya pulled off a quite ridiculous save, getting back across his goal to claw the ball to safety.
The save kept Arsenal 1-0 up at the time and Sky Sports cut their camera towards Ramsdale as he sat on the bench.
Ramsdale was seen applauding Raya whilst showing his appreciation for the save, supporting the Spaniard despite him taking his place in the Arsenal side.
“There you go, ‘well done mate’,” said Gary Neville as he saw Ramsdale’s reaction.
Raya didn’t cover himself in glory for Spurs equaliser
Raya deservedly earned plaudits for his save, but certainly didn’t cover himself in glory for Tottenham’s leveller.
Pape Matar Sarr sent a cross into the box which seemed to be going over Raya and into the net, so the Brentford loanee parried the ball back into play.
Raya saved Brennan Johnson’s follow-up but the ball came back into the box with Son Heung-min finding the net via the post.
We’re hardly expecting Arteta to throw Ramsdale back into the side after that error, but you never know as Arteta seeks to make marginal gains in goal.
