Tottenham Hotspur are in a tricky situation with Toby Alderweireld this summer.

Alderweireld is available for just £25 million due to a release clause in his contract.

Belgian football expert Kristoff Terreur says he expects Alderweireld to move on.

He told Sky Sports: “Clubs who want Alderweireld can pay just £25m and they will have him.”

He added that there are no talks over a new contract on the table.

“There haven’t been talks about a new contract since he rejected the last contract and still there is a bad taste in the mouth when he rejected it.”

It’s a surprise clubs haven’t paid Alderweireld’s release clause already this summer.

Last year there were questions over the Belgian due to an injury, but he had an excellent individual campaign in 2018/19 and featured in the Champions League final.

Even at 30-years-old, £25 million is excellent value. Clubs can’t ignore that sort of bargain in today’s market.

Losing him would be a blow for Tottenham, but when the alternative is losing him on a free next summer, it wouldn’t be terrible if it pushes them into making a decision on signing a replacement.
