According to Sky Sports (Transfer Live blog, 12:36pm, October 16, 2020), Sunderland are interested in signing Dion Sanderson from Wolverhampton Wanderers on transfer deadline day.
It has been reported that the League One club have made an offer to Premier League outfit Wolves to sign the defender on loan today.
Leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers for Sunderland
Sanderson has been at Wolves since 2007, but the 20-year-old has yet to establish himself in the first team at the Wanderers.
Sunderland may be playing in League One at the moment, but they are a big club and are under pressure to clinch promotion to the Championship.
At the Stadium of Light, Sanderson would be playing under a lot of pressure, especially if and when fans are able to return to football grounds.
Such high pressure and a competitive environment could be the making of the youngster and could help him mature.
The youngster would then return to Wolves a better player and perhaps push for a place in the first-team squad.
A loan move to former Premier League club Sunderland would make sense for Sanderson.
