Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno has praised Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for their performances against Newcastle United, as quoted in Football.London.
Nuno has said that the two central midfielders, Skipp and Hojbjerg, were fantastic, as Tottenham beat Newcastle 3-2 at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were the goalscorers for Spurs.
Nuno told Football.London: “I think it’s not only the front four, all the team played good, but of course we’re talking about Sonny, Harry, Lucas and Tanguy.
“I think they combined well, they worked very hard without the ball and the way they recovered, with the mobility they created.
“It was good but everything they did was because they had the foundation behind them. Skippy and Pierre, they did fantastic work.”

Deserved praise
Both Skipp and Hojbjerg were brilliant for Tottenham in the middle of the park.
Yes, Newcastle were very good in the opening 15 or so minutes, but thereafter Spurs imposed themselves on the game.
A big reason behind that was the partnership between Englishman Skipp and Dane Hojbjerg.
While Skipp stopped Newcastle from playing through-balls, his midfield-partner, Hojbjerg, was able to get into more advanced positions and join in on attacking play.

In fact, Hojbjerg provided the assist for Kane’s goal in the 22nd minute.
In our view, Tottenham head coach Nuno should preserve with Skipp and Hojbjerg as his two central midfielders.
Tottenham need a settled starting lineup to win matches on a consistent basis.
We think that Skipp and Hojbjerg provide the perfect base.
