Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey’s agent says his client has a release clause in his contract and here is why Tottenham Hotspur should swoop in.
Partey has grown in stature with Atleti over the past few years and is now one of Diego Simeone’s first names on the team sheet.
Partey will have have a number of suitors if he decides to leave the Spanish capital in the summer but Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham should make a move for the 25-year-old.
Spurs have failed to sign a single player over the last two transfer windows, which has cost them in their title bid this season. Mousa Dembele’s departure has left a massive void in the centre of Tottenham’s midfield and Pochettino will need to address that issue before the start of the next campaign.
An experienced midfielder who can do a job both defensively and in attack will give Tottenham a major boost in their progression next season and Partey checks all the boxes.
The Ghanaian would bring in much-needed steel into Tottenham’s midfield and he would also provide them with a brilliant balance between attack and defence. Partey has the ability to play anywhere across the central midfield and he has also featured at right-back and at centre-back on occasion.
The 25-year-old is at the top of his game and he would only improve under Pochettino.
In short, Tottenham should make it a priority to sign Partey this summer.
