Leicester City’s big-money summer signing Caglar Soyuncu has failed to meet his expectations but should the Foxes offload him in the summer?
The report says that Fenerbahce’s sporting director Damien Comolli’nin will fly over to the United Kingdom to hold talks with Leicester City over the possibility of a summer move. However, selling Soyuncu after just one season in the Premier League makes very little sense irrespective of his performances.
The young Turk has started just four games since making the switch from Bundesliga side Freiburg for a fee reported to be around £19 million last summer. Soyuncu has struggled to get into the squad ahead of Leicester’s first choice centre-halves Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans but the Turk is still only 22 and has a ton of time left to prove himself.
Maguire’s brilliant performances this season has attracted a number of big clubs and Leicester could well be without their star defender at the start of next season. Losing him would leave Leicester with just Evans and skipper Wes Morgan who are both on the wrong side of 30.
Soyuncu has the potential to be a regular starter for the Foxes if given regular game time but even if he can’t secure a starting role at the club, he is a wonderful option to have as a backup.
Soyuncu’s final season in the Bundesliga showed the world how good he can be and his aggressive style combined with his fantastic ability on the ball makes him a brilliant fit to the Premier League and Leicester should at no cost let him leave in the summer.
