Scott McTominay claims it was difficult to watch Liverpool win the Champions League but expressed his delight for fellow Scotsman Andy Robertson.

Robertson started and played the whole game as Liverpool overcame a poor Tottenham side thanks to goals from Mo Salah and Divock Origi. The Reds picked up their sixth Champions League title which pained most Manchester United fans including Scott McTominay.
“I’m a Man United man through and through so I can’t lie it wasn’t easy, it was a tough watch,” claimed the 22-year-old Manchester United midfielder.
McTominay said he was delighted for his fellow Scotsman Robertson and claimed that it was beautiful to see what he has achieved over the past seven years.
He said: “But it was still good to see a fellow Scotsman on the pitch and beautiful to see what he’s gone through from 2012 to now. It’s amazing for him and we’re relishing getting him back and hopefully kicking on in a Scotland jersey.”
McTominay also claimed that Robertson’s achievements is an inspiration to himself and to the national side. He expressed his wishes to emulate his compatriot’s journey at the top-level both for club and country.

“If that’s not inspiration for the whole team right there I don’t know what is. He’s done incredibly well and that’s my aim – to be replicating something like that winning big trophies and hopefully playing in major tournaments in the future with Scotland,” McTominay concluded.
Robertson has been given an extra few days off before he has to join his teammates in the national side ahead of the all-important EURO qualifiers game against Cyprus at Hampden Park on Saturday.
