Should Tottenham Hotspur make a move for Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech?

The Morrocan international had a sensational campaign last term and was expected to be one of the most likely candidates to leave the Dutch top-flight in the summer transfer window. However, Ziyech stayed put at Ajax but rumours are sure to return about interest from potential suitors ahead of the January transfer window.
One club who might express interest is Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur. Ex-Spurs star Rafael van der Vaart has put in a personal recommendation for Ziyech to the club’s chief Daniel Levy and it won’t be a shock if they North Londoners come in for him in the next two windows.
Van der Vaart said: “I really hope he goes to Tottenham Hotspur, and I think so. I sent a message today to Levy. I said: get Ziyech after this season. I am convinced that he becomes a sensation in London. And I also wish him that. I hope Spurs takes him”
Ziyech was one of Ajax’s best players last season, scoring 21 goals and providing 24 assists in all competitions. The 26-year-old has continued his form to this term scoring five goals and assisting five more in 10 Eredivisie games so far for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Spurs are set to lose former Ajax star Christian Eriksen in January or in the summer. Replacing the Danish maestro will definitely not be easy but Ziyech is a very good shout. The Morrocan is entering his prime years and with the likes of Kane and Son alongside him, he would be a real threat in Tottenham’s attack.
A front three of Son, Kane and Lucas Moura playing ahead of Ziyech would form one of the most lethal attacking quartets in the league and with van der Vaart’s seal of approval on Levy’s desk, it could be a very serious possibility in the next two windows.
