A new dawn begins for Watford this week as Quique Sanchez Flores takes charge of the club for the second time in four years.

Although he only stayed at Vicarage Road for one season, Quique Sanchez Flores had a brilliant relationship with Watford fans. Many of the Hornets’ faithful were gutted when the club parted ways with Flores in 2016 but they have certainly been on the up since his departure.
Just one point in the first four games was clearly not good enough and as good a manager as Javi Gracia was, drastic measures were taken. Watford didn’t take long to announce Flores as their new boss and he might just be the perfect man for them at least until the end of the season.
The former Espanyol boss orchestrated a 3-0 demolition of Liverpool, reached the semifinals of the FA Cup and secured survival in his last stint as Watford’s manager. His work with the club in that season laid the foundations for Watford to be a decent top-flight team and his return could help the club do it all over again this year.
Compared to the time when Flores was in charge at Vicarage Road, the quality in Watford’s first team is exponentially higher. His pragmatic philosophy is something that Watford desperately need at the moment especially in defence where they haven’t kept a clean sheet in 1440 minutes.

Flores is someone who can instil confidence in Watford’s defence which has conceded eight goals in four games so far this season. A more organised defence with a different attacking philosophy could help Watford get out of the bottom of the Premier League in the next few games.
With Arsenal, Manchester City and Wolves being their next three opponents in the league, it will not be easy but if anybody can help Watford pull off results against the big teams, it is Flores and Watford fans should be hopeful of a decent campaign despite the terrible start.
