Everton’s Cenk Tosun has reportedly found a new suitor but will he move on?
Al Gharafa have started the season well after finishing eighth last term. Now managed by former Fulham boss Slaviša Jokanović, the club have huge ambitions going forward and signing someone like Tosun would be a big statement in Qatar.
Tosun hasn’t been in Marco Silva’s Premier League plans after failing to play a single minute so far this season. The Turk even failed to make the bench in Everton’s recent defeat at Bournemouth which makes a move away more favourable to the player and the club.
However, the same report claims that Tosun rejected an opportunity to return to Turkey to fight for a spot in Silva’s side. Summer signing Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are both well ahead of the Turkish international in the pecking order and Tosun’s only chance of game time in the Premier League could come in the event of an injury to one of the other two forwards.
The 28-year-old has played 44 times for the Toffees since joining them in January last year but has scored just nine goals in that period. His underwhelming form upfront was one of Everton’s biggest issues last season and that played a big part in costing them a seventh-placed finish in the league.
Now with one of the biggest attacking prospects in the world in Moise Kean, Everton have someone on who they can put their trust in. Calvert-Lewin has also delivered more than Tosun in a similar time frame which makes the need for the Turk very small.
Tosun will get more game time in Qatar and Everton’s wage bill will be at ease should he move before the end of the Qatari transfer window on the 30th of this month. A move away suits all parties involved and the Turk should seriously consider joining Jokanović in the coming days
