Caglar Soyuncu scored his first goal for Leicester City against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Soyuncu was once again instrumental for the Foxes as they picked up their seventh win of this Premier League season. The young Turk had the big boots of Harry Maguire to fill after barely featuring last season and he has stepped up to the plate big time.
Three-time Premier League winner Martin Keown, who knows a thing or two about defending, was quick to praise Soyuncu’s impact for the Foxes and claimed that his style is perfect for the physical demands of the modern game.
“The more I see of Leicester defender Caglar Soyuncu, the more I like him. He is only 23 but the Turkey international looks like a defender who is made for the demands of the modern game – agile, aggressive and good in the air, but also brave on the ball too. Whatever situation he is in, he never really looks troubled to me,” he said.

Soyuncu was the fourth choice behind Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Wes Morgan last season and there was plenty of speculation regarding his future in the summer. Maguire’s move away, and lack of defensive signings, probably forced Rodgers to keep hold of the Turk beyond the end of the window and that has proved to be one of his best decisions so far as Foxes boss.
With a huge game against Arsenal coming up this weekend, Leicester have a massive opportunity to extend the gap between themselves and the North Londoners to nine points which would push the Foxes a step closer to finishing in the Champions League places.
