Leicester City could be set to acquire more money next summer as Chelsea consider a move for left-back Ben Chilwell.

Frank Lampard’s side got off to a miserable start in the Premier League as they succumbed to a humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of rivals Manchester United on Sunday. The Blues are in need of a balanced left-back with Marcus Alonso and Emerson both a liability in defence.
Chilwell would be a fantastic option for the Blues but, with the 22-year-old being an integral part of Brendan Rodgers’ side, he will cost a humongous amount of money. Chelsea’s transfer ban negates the possibility for a move in January but a successful appeal could see a bid in the winter transfer window.
Chilwell missed just two games in the Premier League last season and was regarded as one of the best left-backs in the league. Losing him would be a huge blow for the Foxes but they would again be the recipients of a massive transfer fee if he decides to move along.

Brendan Rodgers’ side pocketed a mammoth £80million from Manchester United for Harry Maguire earlier this summer which broke the world record transfer fee for a defender. Chilwell, who is rated at £70million, could be sold for a fee much higher than that considering that he is tied down to a contract until the summer of 2024.
Leicester have been a feeder club of sorts to the bigger sides in recent years, with big-money sales for N’golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater and Riyad Mahrez, but Chilwell could top all of them if Chelsea move in for him next summer.
