Leandro Trossard’s return opens up a lot of options for Brighton

Brighton and Hove Albion under Graham Potter have become a really exciting side but there is still more to come as the season progresses.

Graham Potter confirmed in his pre-match press conference that star summer signing Leandro Trossard is back in training and is available for selection for the game against Aston Villa.

The Seagulls boss said that it is unlikely that he will start the Belgian against Villa on Saturday but he might get a chance from the bench. Trossard started off the season well, scoring against West Ham as well as being a constant goal threat against Manchester City but a groin injury ruled him out since.

Trossard’s injury was certainly a blow for Potter who had to experiment with his starting line up due to the lack of width available at his disposal. From using wing-backs in a 3-5-1-1 against Chelsea to reverting to a back four with two central midfielders on the wings against Tottenham, it hasn’t been easy for the Seagulls but they did manage a brilliant 3-0 win against the latter.

Things are finally looking better for Potter with his star summer recruit Trossard opening up a wide range of options in the upcoming games. The Belgian is capable of playing on either wing or centrally in a number 10 role just behind the striker.

Potter has been forced to use Aaron Mooy and Pascal Pascal Groß on either wing. Trossard back in action will allow at least one of the two central midfielders return to their natural position which will certainly increase the efficiency as well as the competition in the side.

Neal Maupay has started off his debut Premier League campaign with three goals in his first eight appearances while young Aaron Connolly has stepped up with a brilliant brace against Tottenham just before the break. Trossard’s creativity will certainly boost the duo’s performances and that is bound to make Brighton a very dangerous side in attack.
