Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen could reportedly become the next player to join Juventus on a free transfer.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus have contacted Christian Eriksen over a deal that would take him to Turin on a free transfer next summer.

The Dane has entered the final year of his contract with Spurs and there has been no positive news regarding an extension.

Eriksen rejected an opportunity to move to Manchester United, according to the report, as he hopes for a move to Spain. But with neither Real Madrid nor Barcelona too keen, he could well run down his contract in North London this season.

Juventus are the masters of free transfers having signed the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot this summer without having to pay their respective clubs any money. Eriksen would certainly be a massive signing for the Old Lady, despite their plethora of options in midfield, and him coming in on a free would be a massive bonus.

Eriksen will be allowed to discuss personal terms with any foreign club in January if he decides against extending his contract at Tottenham, and Juventus will definitely be a team on red alert when the winter transfer window opens.

Arguably Tottenham’s best player, Eriksen turned the game on its head when he was brought off the bench on Saturday. His creativity helped Spurs come from behind against an Aston Villa side who dominated in the first half.

Losing Eriksen would no doubt be a monumental blow for Tottenham, who have been overly reliant on his performances over the last few years. The Dane leaving on a free would be an even more difficult pill to swallow but, if things stay the way they are, he could well don the black and white of Juventus by this time next year with Spurs gaining nothing from the move.
